Mona Lisa and Picasso
When the Mona Lisa disappeared from the Louvre in 1911, a friend of Pablo Picasso's, Guillaume Apollinaire, was arrested first and ratted out Picasso for possessing stolen antiquities. Picasso was subsequently arrested and released because he had not stolen the Mona Lisa. However he was not completely innocent of a crime as he did possess a pair of Bronze Age Iberian statues stolen from the Louvre that was never detected.*
